Credits and licences

Last updated 25 September 2026

ClearyKeys and this website are written and designed by Lorcan Cleary. They also rely on work that other people have shared under open licences, listed here with thanks.

1The piano sound

The app’s piano samples come from the Versilian Studios VSCO Community library, which Versilian Studios has placed in the public domain. They are used as prepared by the tonejs-instruments project by Nicholaus Brosowsky, shared under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 licence. The samples are stored inside the app, so the piano works offline.

2Typefaces

  • Spectral, by Production Type
  • IBM Plex Sans and IBM Plex Mono, by IBM

Both are used under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, in the app and on this website.

3Music and teaching material

Scale fingerings and spellings come from the scale book behind clearypianolessons.com, Lorcan Cleary’s teaching studio. The works of the composers named in the app are in the public domain. Sight-reading pieces are generated by the app for each player.

4Trademarks

ClearyKeys and the ClearyKeys logo belong to Lorcan Cleary. Google Play is a trademark of Google LLC. Exam boards named in the app, such as ABRSM, Trinity College London and the RIAM, are mentioned only to describe levels, and ClearyKeys isn’t connected to or endorsed by them.
